Overview

The NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing is a General Dental Council (GDC) recognised dental nursing qualification which covers all outcomes described within the GDC Preparing to Practice document.

The purpose of the qualification is to prepare trainee Dental Nurses in the foundations of dental nursing, so they can demonstrate the highest standards in terms of knowledge, skills and professional attributes.

The skills you will gain upon completion of the qualification are described within the extensive curriculum under the domains of Clinical, Communication, Professionalism and Management and Leadership.

The qualification comprises of a formative workplace assessment – the Record of Experience, which enables the workplace team to become an integral part of the training of the trainee Dental Nurse.

The summative assessment comprises a written and practical component aimed at assessing knowledge and decision making to demonstrate trainee Dental Nurses’ understanding and competence. The summative assessment also adheres to current educational best practice.

The result is a qualification that we’re proud of – one which enhances teamwork within the dental practice and gives peace of mind to both trainee and dental practice that they have completed a robust qualification and can look forward to a fulfilling career within the dental profession.

Course Content

Module 1: Professionalism and the Role of the Dental Nurse
 
AIM: To discuss the roles and responsibilites of a dental nurse including their professional responsibility and to enable dental nurses to understand the importance of adhering to professional, ethical, legislatve and local policies relevant to working within the dental seung.
 
Module 2: Health and Safety
 
AIM: To identfy and manage risks and hazards in the workplace in line with current legislatve frameworks, government policies and accepted good practce
 
Module 3: Dealing with Medical Emergencies
 
AIM: To provide appropriate support in emergency situatons and understand the role of the dental team within these situatons.
 
Module 4: General, Dental and Regional Anatomy
AIM: To demonstrate an understanding of General, Dental and Regional Anatomy and the relevance to patents’ treatment needs.
 
Module 5: Oral Disease
AIM: To demonstrate an understanding of common oral diseases, including oral cancer and their effect on the oral cavity.
 
Module 6: Preven0on of Oral Disease
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and support the operator during a variety of preventatve procedures
 
Module 7: Assessment
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and the support of the operator during an oral health assessment. To demonstrate an understanding of current legislaton relatng to confidentality. To demonstrate support during the taking of dental images, processing images and maintaining quality in accordance with relevant legislaton and policy.
 
Module 8: Restora0ve Den0stry
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and support the patent and the operator during the provision of restoratve procedures.
 
Module 9 Child Dental Health
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and support the patent and the operator during the provision of restoratve and orthodontc procedures. To demonstrate appropriate patent management and communicaton techniques.
 
Module 10: Minor Oral Surgery
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and support the patent and the operator during the minor oral surgery. To demonstrate appropriate patent management and communicaton techniques.
 
Module 11: Pain and Anxiety Control
AIM: To demonstrate the preparaton of the dental environment and support the patent and the operator during the provision of pain and anxiety control. To demonstrate appropriate patent management and communicaton techniques.
Minimum guided learning hours have been aligned to each area of the curriculum.

Upon registraton with the GDC the Registrant should be able to:

You agree to keep you contact details provided to us with your enrolment up to date Assessment of students' suitability

Once we receive your signed Application Form we will assess your suitability to enrol in the Course. You must have the legal capacity and are free contractually to accept these Terms and are at least 18 years old. We require that all students have a good level of written and spoken English and maths. In order to assess your language skills may be asked to sit a short, basic English skills and /or maths test with us at the interview stage.

Please note that you must have the right to work and study in the UK. All students are solely responsible to obtain permission to work and study in the UK before paying the Deposit. We can't be liable for the failure of students to obtain permission to work and study in the UK. No refunds will be given to students that withdraw from the Course, before or after the start date, due to the fact that they have not obtained the permits or have failed to maintain the permits during the Course.

Payment of Deposit Once we have approved your application you will be required to pay a non-refundable, non-transferable and non- exchangeable Deposit in the amount of £175.00 (inc VAT) before the start date.
Payment of the Deposit should secure a position on the Course.

COURSE FEE
You must pay the full Course fee in the amount of £1,695.00 (inc VAT). The first payment you are required to make before the Course start date is a non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable Deposit in the amount of £175.00 (inc VAT). You agree to pay the remaining balance of the Course fee in 9 monthly equal instalments of £169.00 (inc VAT). All payments must be in UK Pounds Sterling.

NEBDN EXAMINATION FEES


All applicants wishing to sit the Diploma exam will be required to pay an examination fee (currently) £510.00. The amount of the examination fee is determined by the National Examination Board for Dental Nursing (NEBDN) and is subject to changes made by the NEBDN. You will need to submit this examination fee to us before you will be entered into the examination(s). Examination deferral fees of £35.00 or re-sit examination fees of either £150.00 or £300.00 may also be payable before confirming your right to sit a NEBDN Examination. In all cases, your BSBC course fees will need to be up to date before we pay the NEBDN examination fee(s). Any amounts you pay to us may be used to satisfy course fees due at the time of payment in priority to other payments, including examination fees.

The course is being provided in partnership with GH Learning centre London who are accredited by National Education Board for Dental Nursing (NEBDN)

For exceptional performances of the students both at the college and also the work place we offer bursary. The amount of bursary will not be higher than £500.
